Mountains are not just beautiful…
The mountains are home to 15% of the world’s population: more than the entire population of Europe.
Between 60 and 80% of the fresh water available on Earth derives from the mountains.
1.9 billion people depend on mountain water resources: more than a quarter of the inhabitants of the entire planet.
Safeguarding the mountains, managing their territory, and monitoring them by performing scientific research means protecting their extraordinary beauty and, most important, the life of at least a quarter of the world’s population: our life.
MOUNTAIN GENIUS
The Mountain Hub
is a brand and a project aimed at collecting the know-how related to research, management, and protection of mountain areas
It’s a project aimed at:
- Promoting SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH in the mountains
- Producing and COLLECT scientific DATA
- Representing the instances of mountain territories to ENTITIES AND INSTITUTIONS
- Implementing advisory actions and DECISION SUPPORT
- Implementing and manage SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT projects
- Developing information, training, communication, and DISSEMINATION projects and events
